This is an interesting lot consisting of four Tattersalls horse racing lottery ticket applications and leaflet dating to 1899. The application required submission to Tattersalls, which was located in Hobart, Tasmania who would then issue the ticket. These particular applications were for the Silver City Cup, which was to be held at Broken Hill, New South Wales on July 26th, 1899, the Grand National Hurdle Race to be held at Flemington, Victoria on July 8, 1899, The Melbourne Cup to be held at Flemington on November the 7th, 1899 and the Caulfield Cup to be held at Caulfield on October the 21st, 1899. The Silver Cup application measures 8 by 6 while the other three measure 4 5/8 by 5 1/4. Also included is a leaflet explaining the lottery and with hints on how to interact with Tattersall. All five pieces are in very good condition with some minor wear or colour fade - please view the photos. Apparently Tattersalls was a very popular lottery at that time, with a lot of participation. Neat old horse racing / lottery collectibles ..not very common.
