Perhaps the most famous piece from Saarinen's Pedestal Series is the Saarinen Tulip Table. Designed between 1955 and 1957, the Saarinen Table envelopes the design philosophy behind one of the century's greatest American architects. Constructed of cast aluminum, the Saarinen Table flows from top to bottom and from side to side in a fluid exchange of lines. Saarinen used a variety of tulip bases and tops for various interiors during his career. The Saarinen table shown here is a favorite as it can be used in a variety of spaces but is most commonly used as a dining or small conference table.

Eero Saarinen focused on the development of new materials for use in his furniture designs and architecture.  Even though he did not design a great number of buildings or different types of furniture, Saarinen’s designs and materials continue to have a lasting impact on design today.  The use of fiberglass and cast aluminum as seen in his Pedestal Series are excellent examples of this innovation and creativity. 

Saarinen Table has a lacquered cast aluminum base in white, black, or silver. The Saarinen Table base is treated with a clear protective finish to resist scratches, stains, and scuffs.
