Winemaker Notes

The grapes carefully selected for this wine, were harvested by hand and transported in small boxes to the winery. The fermentation occurred in old stone vats called "lagares”, with temperature control. This is an exceptional Vintage Port from the harvest of 2016, a "declared” Vintage, or a Classic Vintage, that on historic terms only occurs 3 times per decade. Bottled in July 2018, after almost 2 years in large oak vats, this Vintage finishes its ageing process in bottle stored horizontally for a long life of many decades. Throughout the ageing period, the wine softens, gaining structure and complexity. The structured tannins of this wine shine through the powerful fruits, holding the promise of excellent aging. It is a firm style of wine that is lifted by vibrant fruit flavors. Opulent, bold and ripe.
