Uzumati Ceramics is a small-batch stoneware company that exists to explore the connection between people and wild places through handcrafted stoneware collections inspired by rugged landscapes and storied travels.
The Mafic Collection draws inspiration from the stark, monochromatic, alpine regions of the High Sierra. The geologic term, ‘mafic,’ refers to dark colored igneous rock rich in magnesium and iron. Light colored sierra granitic bodies are often beautifully interspersed with areas of dark mafic rock. Raw, understated, timeless. A collection rooted in the balance of opposites.
Every collection is hand thrown, hand carved, and hand glazed.
